Built-Rite Certification

This PSM safety course developed under the BUILT-RITE Construction Industry Program of  PALM  meets all requirements to gain access to Sunoco NJ/PA and Valero NJ refineries. Upon completion of the 10 hour course you will receive a Built-Rite Photo ID Safety Card valid for one year.

Built-Rite Re-Certification (refresher course)

For members with a current Built-Rite certification that is due to expire. Completion of this 2 hour refresher course will renew your Built-Rite   qualification for another year. There is a 50 question test following the class.

If your qualification has expired then you will need to re-take the full 8 hour course.

NOTE: The Built-Rite re-certification is now required annually. Those on record as attending re-certification class before January 2007 and passing the exam will not need to take the re-cert until 2 years after attending the class. Anyone on record as attending from February 2007 forward the certification is only good for one year. This change was made by the Built-Rite organization, not Local 322.

TBA Level I Instrumentation Technician Course

The United Association and IBEW have developed this new Instrumentation Calibration Technician Certification. This new course covers the various aspects of instrumentation, electrical and mechanical theory and instrumentation. Upon completion of this course, you will be eligible to take the UA/IBEW Level I Certification Examination.

Installing Medical Gas Systems – NFPA 99 C 2005

This is a 32 hour course and covers code governing medical gas piping code interpretation, installer qualification, and brazing qualification in accordance with ASME, Section IX. A written exam and brazing procedure will be administered at the end of the course. Participants in this course who successfully pass these examinations will qualify for a certification as an installer by the American Medical Gas Institute Inc.

This classes fills up fast so don't delay in calling.

Plumbing Inspectors ICS 1 License
Perquisite: 9 years plumbing experience for State License

This course covers the principles, practices and techniques of plumbing inspection, plumbing system design applied to industrial and large commercial structures, and inspection methods and procedures. Topics include regulations of the Uniform Construction Code, content of the plumbing sub codes, and classification of structures into class types.

Certified Industrial Rigging

This in-depth 10 week course on rigging will instruct you in the selection, setup, and performance of rigging of heavy loads. Some of the topics covered include how to calculate loads and the stresses on rigging components; find the center of gravity of odd shaped loads; proper rigging equipment inspection techniques; and how to make safe and controlled lifts using various rigging equipment. The course curriculum is recognized by EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) and will qualify you to their Industrial Rigging Certification to perform rigging of heavy and critical loads at most U.S. Nuclear Power Plants. The certification is good for five years, at which time you need to requalify to maintain your certification.

New Beginners AutoCAD Class

A beginners AutoCAD drawing course. To enroll in this course a student must have a home computer and a basic background in mechanical drawing and computer use
(this class does not teach basic computer skills).

Backflow Device Testing

Instruction in the installation, service, and hands-on testing of backflow prevention assemblies. Successful completion of this course and written and practical exam will result in certification as a tester by the ASSE (American Society of Sanitary Engineering). This course will be offered 1 time this year and requires 33 hours to complete.

Free Jacket UA Local 322 members who complete 80 hours of Journeymen training between September, 2006 to June, 2007, will be eligible for a FREE JACKET

UA Valve Repair Certification

This course is an intensive 40 hour classroom program. It includes classroom instruction, textbook materials, and hands-on experience. Class members will be instructed in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of different types of valves found in power plants and other industrial facilities. In the process, students will learn to use valve reconditioning equipment and become skilled in the use and application of precision measurement and sensitive calibration tools.

Advanced techniques of project control will be discussed and a review of the foreman’s responsibility in regards to contract documents, change orders, material handling, planning and scheduling, test reports, job close out and startup will be covered
Not offered this semester UA /EPRI Valve Repair Technician re-certification course

This course is for renewal of the UA/EPRI Valve Repair Technician certification.
Three night review classes are being scheduled, one on Tuesdays and one on Wednesday nights.

Live Steam Trap and Steam Heating Coil Seminar

This seminar will cover Steam trap & Coil sizing, installation and troubleshooting techniques using a live steam system with see through glass piping and trap internals.

Presented by Ed Holfman from Associate Steam INC.

This is a 3 credit general education course and will be offered by Camden County College at our Training Center. This is a great foundation course for anyone interested in taking AutoCAD, Estimating, or a Planning & Scheduling course in the future.

NOTE: All college courses held at Local 322's Training Center are co-funded by LU 322's Education Fund and SJMCA Contractors. Members are responsible for the cost of text books and $100.00 course fee.

Not offered this semester NJ Master Plumbers License Renewal Class
Continuing Education Course for NJ Master Plumbers License Holders.

This 5 hour class is required to renew your plumbing license and all seminars must be completed before license renewal date of April, 2007.

As mandated by the State Board of Master Plumbers,
Master Plumbers must bring the following:

Not offered this semester NEW Level II Instrumentation Technician Course

Members who have completed the Level I certification test; are eligible to take the Level 2 - Practical Exam. The Practical Exam is a hands-on proficiency test. Participants will learn to perform various calibrations on an assortment of different instruments using the test and calibration equipment provided in preparation for the UA/IBEW Level 2 Examination.

Not offered this semester Interpretation of the Plumbing Code

This 10 week course is for those members want to learn and full understand the latest edition of the 2006 National Standard Plumbing Code and also is a good way for those members seeking to take the NJ Master Plumbers Exam. A copy of the 2006 NSPC (illustrated version) is required for this class and may be ordered by calling

Not offered this semester Pipefitters Make It Fit

In this advanced pipe layout course, you will learn to determine the angle required and fabricate odd-angle offsets. Old fitters secrets along with some modern methods will be used to fabricate miters, saddles, shortest combination offsets made with odd angle elbows, and short simple offsets. Branch line off-back of elbow, 3-weld odd angle offsets, and template layout will also be discussed. This class will convene over six weeks and class size is limited to ten. All others will be placed on a waiting list for the next available start date.

A review of the guidelines and code as applied to design construction of Public Restrooms.
Not offered this semester Soldering and Brazing

This is a hands-on course. Experts from the industry will demonstrate the techniques and procedures for lead free soldering and brazing.
