Construction Management Certification 
in cooperation with 
Drexel University

Local 322 and the South Jersey Mechanical Contractors Association  made
Drexel Construction Management courses available to our Journeymen, Apprentices,
and to SJMCA members from 2003 to 2007 at the Training Center of Local Union 322.

Additional Drexel classes are not being offered  at this time.
 
Upon completion of the required courses students received 18 credits
and a certificate in Construction Management.

CNMGT 263 Understanding Construction Drawings
Examines a of a variety of construction documents including drawings and specifications for competitively bid construction projects.

As union pipe trades journeymen, we must integrate our plumbing and mechanical piping systems into the building design. Through examination of a variety of construction documents including drawings and specifications for competitively bid construction projects, you will be able to read and understand a set of blueprints.

CNMGT 264 Management of Construction Field Operations
Covers the decision- making process and quantitative techniques for planning and controlling field operations of an enterprise.

CNMGT 363 Estimating I
Covers quantity surveys and cost estimates including cost factors, methods of estimating time and materials, expenses, and profit.

CNMGT 461 Construction Management I
Covers construction management concepts and practices, the management system, construction planning and programming, project control, environmental management, total quality management, and ethics in construction management.

CNMGT 462 Construction Management II
Covers construction supervision, staffing, contract documents, insurance and bonds, organization, planning and scheduling, administration, purchasing, accounting, safety, labor relations, inspection, and reporting.

CNMGT 465 Marketing Construction Services
Applies marketing principles to the construction industry including development of prime and subcontractors: identification of business opportunities; and market research practices, and strategies.

CNMGT 161 Building Materials and Construction Method I
Introduction to the basic building materials of wood, masonry, cast iron, wrought iron, steel, aluminum, and construction methods associated with these materials.

CNMGT 162 Building Materials and Construction Method II
Continuation of Building Materials and Construction Methods I. Covers plain concrete, reinforced concrete, precast and pre-stressed concrete, reinforced masonry, and properties of these materials and construction methods associated with them.

CNMGT 361 Contracts and Specifications I
Analyzes construction contracts, specifications, and practices with regard to business law and liability.

In the construction industry, as in any type of business, knowledge is power. This is especially true when it come to knowledge of the complex body of local, state and federal laws and regulations that apply to virtually every aspect of the construction industry. This course analyzes construction contracts, specifications, and practices with regard to business law and liability.

CNMGT 362 Contracts and Specifications II
Continuation of Contracts and Specifications I. Examines contractor, architect, and engineer responsibilities through case studies and class discussions of construction law.

CNMGT 463 Value Engineering I
Covers the value concept, value engineering job plan, and techniques of project selection. Includes applications and case studies.

CNMGT 467 Techniques of Project Control
Covers planning, scheduling, network systems, and communications required for project control, diagram logic and claims prevention. Involves introduction of scheduling software systems.

All the above courses are 3 credit courses.
